5 Ways to Help Spark Innovation in Jacksonville

building something

At times, innovation is tough to find. It hides out in basements or backyards, in dark clubs and messy studios. In the coming months we plan to seek out innovation in Jacksonville, wherever it is. Our goal for the next 90 days is to build a team of connectors, graphic designers and producers to create events, videos and other content for this website.

We’ll do this in our own original way, creating something that not only inspires, but informs. Call it what you want: an online tv station, a magazine, a innovation portal, whatever. It’s all those things and we want to shine a spotlight on smart people and inspire others to do what they’re passionate about.

So, here they are, The 5 Ways to Help Spark Innovation in Jacksonville. If you match the description below or know someone who does, contact us about joining the team.

#1 Connectors

NEED in about 1 month.

Do you have a large network of friends in Jacksonville? Do you find yourself naturally introducing one friend to another? We’re looking for highly connected people in town who can play “host” and place those seeking help correctly with those who can help them.

Why help? It’s what you do best and you are helping create innovation in the city.

#2 Video Producers

NEED in the next couple of weeks, we’ll be looking for guest directors.

Producers will help establish a series of segments to inspire, teach and guide Jacksonville. By Fall, we’ll need a team of directors for monthly shoots. When you help direct, you give back and bring the city up by leveraging your special talents.

Why help? Learn new techniques and collaborate with our community. Expose your work to an entire community of potential clients.

#3 Event Producers

NEED Fall 2011.

Ideally, event producers will have local connections, be organized and most importantly be willing to donate the time required for this position. We plan to organize small and medium size events in Jacksonville. Experience with event budgeting, sponsorships, media relations, promotions, volunteer sourcing and coordination are a plus, but not absolutely required.

Why help? You’ll help provide important programming for the community and build your event production network.

#4 Content Producers

NEED Immediately.

Content producers should have a background in blogging or writing content at a professional level. They will be responsible for writing 1-2 features per month, general research, interviews and working with the content editor to shape new content features.

Why help? Content creation will be a very collaborative process. You can bring content concepts to the table and see them implemented on the site.

#5 Designer/Design Intern

NEED Immediately.

The designer will create original artwork for website features. Artwork could include, but is not limited to, photography, illustration, infographics, article layout, creating re-usable design elements for features and more. This person will work closely with the content editor to shape the look and feel of the articles.

Why help? Build your design portfolio and contribute to the design fabric of the website.

#6 Bonus Item: You!

You don’t fit neatly into one of these buckets, but maybe you know someone who does. Help us by playing connector and sharing this article with a friend or acquaintance that has some mad-awesome writing, design or video production skills, is a connector or event producer.
